We are looking for the best

As a Senior Calibration Engineer at 42dot, you will lead the development and implementation of cutting-edge calibration technologies to support mass production and deployment of autonomous vehicles. You will be responsible for designing and executing both factory and online calibration procedures, ensuring that all sensor systems operate with the highest precision. You will also play a key role in detecting and correcting mis-calibrations, and in designing robust validation methods to verify calibration quality. Working closely with teams across perception, localization, and robotics, your contributions will directly impact the reliability and safety of autonomous driving systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine factory and online calibration methodologies for a wide range of sensors, including cameras, IMUs, LiDARs, radars, and wheel speed sensors.

  • Design algorithms and pipelines for detecting sensor mis-calibration and performing re-calibration autonomously.

  • Define and implement test and validation procedures to ensure calibration quality and consistency at scale.

  • Automate calibration workflows to meet the demands of mass production environments.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (perception, SLAM, hardware, manufacturing) to ensure end-to-end system accuracy and reliability.

  • Stay up to date with the latest calibration techniques in robotics and computer vision, and drive innovation within the team.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership within the team.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree in robotics, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field

  • Minimum of 2 years of industrial experience in relevant fields such as calibration, robotics, or autonomous systems

  • Strong understanding of multi-sensor calibration techniques and geometric computer vision

  • Hands-on experience with the calibration of cameras, IMUs, LiDARs, wheel speed sensors, and other perception sensors

  • Proficient in modern C++ and Python

  • Familiar with non-linear optimization and state estimation techniques

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with autonomous driving system development or deployment

  • Experience in high-volume factory calibration or automotive manufacturing environments

  • Familiarity with SLAM, sensor fusion, and localization pipelines

  • Experience with simulation tools and synthetic data for calibration testing

  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or end-of-line (EOL) validation frameworks

Interview Process

  • Application Review - Coding Test - 1st Interview - 2nd Interview - Offer

  • The process may vary by position and is subject to change.

  • Schedule and results will be communicated via the email provided in your application.
