About the Role:
We are looking for a visionary Lead Designer, IVI Apps to shape the user experience of our in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) ecosystem. This role will lead the design of innovative, intuitive, and intelligent applications that operate across our software-defined vehicle platform. You will work closely with engineering, product, and UX research teams to create cohesive, high-impact user experiences that reflect our safety-first and user-centric philosophy.
You’ll play a critical role in establishing design standards and strategies for 42dot’s IVI systems, ensuring that every interaction in the vehicle reflects our vision for connected, autonomous mobility.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design strategy and execution for 42dot’s IVI apps, from concept through implementation.
Create design systems and UI frameworks that scale across multiple screens and driving contexts.
Translate complex requirements into elegant, human-centered designs that prioritize safety and usability. Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, researchers, and other designers to bring experiences to life.
Conduct and apply user research to ensure designs meet real-world needs and expectations.
Champion a cohesive visual and interaction design language across the IVI platform.
Present design work to stakeholders and advocate for the user experience at all stages of development.
Requirements:
8+ years of professional experience in product or interaction design, with at least 3 years in a lead or principal role.
Strong portfolio demonstrating shipped, user-facing applications—preferably in embedded or automotive environments.
Deep understanding of designing for screen-based interfaces, motion, and multi-modal interaction (touch, voice, haptics).
Experience building and maintaining design systems for scalable products.
Strong ability to articulate design decisions, backed by data and research.
Fluency in Figma or similar design tools; knowledge of prototyping tools (Principle, ProtoPie, etc.) is a plus.
Familiarity with IVI platforms, Android Automotive OS, or embedded systems is highly desirable.
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Design, HCI, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience.
Passion for shaping the future of mobility and redefining the in-vehicle user experience.
Base Salary:
$102,000 - $284,000
